Tasting notes
Delicate and perfumed, the 2019 Vosne-Romanée Clos du Château is the most elegant of Liger-Belair's communal bottlings this year, offering up aromas of peonies, spices, plums, orange rind, sweet soil tones and raw cocoa. Medium-bodied, supple and charming, with an ample core of perfumed, succulent fruit girdled by lively acids and underpinned by melting tannins, it is very promising.

The 2019 Vosne-Romanée Clos du Château does not quite match the La Colombière on the nose in terms of transparency and delineation, coming across just a little smudged at first, and offering ripe strawberry and raspberry and a touch of orange zest. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannins. Quite firm and solid in the mouth, but missing the precision of the La Colombière on the finish.
Clay-limestone. Big stones. Tank sample. Ruby colour. Interesting edge of vitality and cranberry in this wine. Rather sumptuous with a jewelly crystalline texture. Very sweet and round. (JR)
