Tasting notes
(100% vendange entier ): Good medium red. Sexy, complex nose combines cherry compote, raspberry, violet, spices, smoke, pepper and underbrush, along with an incense-like note of sandalwood that reminded me of Beaujolais. Round and fleshy but still tight on the palate, with excellent energy to the dark berry and spice flavors. This firmly structured wine shows little fat on the back half, finishing with substantial dusty tannins and pepper and spice notes from the stems. I don't find the chocolatey character that a barrel sample showed in November of 2011.

(racked into tank on the morning of my visit and slated for bottling the next day; 100% vendange entier Deep red. Sweet aromas of black cherry, cassis and chocolate liqueur. Wonderfully sweet and distinctly high-toned on the palate, with the dark fruit flavors and chocolatey ripeness leavened by mineral and pepper notes. A very rich wine with integrated tannins and excellent length.
