Tasting Notes
This was showing beautifully – offering the most refined nose of all the Premiers Crus at this address, with such depth and profundity. It’s very, very impressive and easily competes with the Grands Crus. On the palate, it’s multi-faceted, rich and complex. Balanced and elegant, it is such a beautiful wine with extraordinary length. Wait as long as you can to drink this – for it has so much to give, however it will be hard to resist. Brilliant. Four barrels with around 50% new oak. The 2022 labels are one-offs, including a dedication to their son Pâris, who was born on 1st January 2022.

There is a spicy top note to the layered aromas of honeysuckle, acacia blossom, apple compote and Asian-style tea. The racy, intense and utterly delicious medium-bodied flavors possess a wonderfully seductive mouthfeel, all wrapped in an equally long and even more complex finale that is also clearly intended for extended keeping. The innate class of a fine, even sophisticated, Pucelles is very much on display. Highly recommended. Drink 2034+
There are four barrels this year; the grapes have come from the Pernot family holdings in this terroir just north of Bâtard and Bienvenues-Bâtard. The richness of the terroir has delivered a wine with a ripe apricot and apple aroma touched with hints of marzipan and spice. Although the texture is rich, the reductive winemaking style of the domaine has delivered an exquisite combination of freshness, breadth and depth. There is substance here, and one would do well to give this three to five years in the bottle before opening, but the wine should age well.
The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet Les Pucelles 1er Cru is more backwards on the nose than the Les Caillerets, crushed limestone mingling with Alpine stream and cooking apples. The palate is well-balanced with plenty of concentration. Light tropical brushstrokes of apricot and passion fruit lead to a spicy and prolonged finish. It's one of those wines whose charms creep up on you the more you drink it.
