Tasting notes
This is a real show-stopper. You could keep your nose in the glass for minutes, it’s so multilayered, complex, with everything dialled up to the maximum, yet condensed and balanced. Powerful, yet not heavy, the palate is as profound as the nose. It builds up and up and up, from ripe fruit to zesty lemon, with that typical hint of freshly ground almonds. This is amazing with such complexity and a super long finish, which lasts well over a minute. This is mouthwatering and could well be the best rendition of this wine to date. Three barrels were made, with no new oak at all.

A fresh and beautifully layered nose once again somewhat grudgingly offers up a range of white orchard fruit aromas that are laced with hints of phenolic character, citrus and acacia blossom. The rich, sappy and powerful big-bodied flavors are surprisingly refined while displaying superb length on the compact, tightly wound and comparably built-to-age finale. This hugely long and impeccable well-balanced effort is also packed with development potential and it would be a shame to open one too early. As good as a number of the wines are, this is the clear class of the range in 2022. If you can find it, buy it. Drink 2034+
The 2022 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru is a big leap up from the Corton-Charlemagne: much more mineralite and tension – you can smell the terroir here. The palate is well-balance and slightly austere, with deft touches of crushed limestone and white pepper, strict and linear on the finish, yet very powerful. Could this surpass the outstanding 2021 last year?
Pure mid lemon yellow. Immediate class on the nose, picked at the right time. Impeccably balanced on the palate, all the weight one hopes for, but retaining a vivacity as well and an exceptional length of fruit. Pure white orchard fruit all the way.
