Score 86/100 · Drink 2021-2024, Neal Martin, Aug 2021

The 1976 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Saint-Jacques 1er Cru is a lucid deep brick color. Light red currant and cranberry fruit intermingles with sage, clove and gravel on the nose, while the palate offers sappy red fruit and a sinewy, unashamedly rustic finish that is perhaps too ferrous for my liking. Probably past its peak; nevertheless, it provides some drinking pleasure. Tasted at Otto's restaurant in London.
