Score 88/100 · Drink 2014-2024, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Nov 2014

Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. Laurent Ponsot’s Corton Grand Cru Cuvée du Bordon ’11 offers impressive intensity on the nose: plenty of wood here, although there is at least a satisfactory level of fruit to back it up. The palate is medium-bodied with a zesty, lively entry. It does not have the sophistication or complexity of top Corton, although it is balanced, clean and fresh on the finish. It needs a little more sophistication.

From Corton Les Paulands. Dark crimson. Ripe black cherry fruit flavours and then lots of tannin. Makes one realise how relatively soft the 2011 vintage is! Slightly tough on the end. (JR)

Quite deeply colored. This densely fruited effort is ripe yet the aromatic profile is cool and restrained with fine complexity to the primarily red berry fruit scents that are liberally sprinkled with earth, humus and sauvage notes. There is first-rate intensity and muscle to the equally complex, concentrated and mouth coating flavors that benefit from the impressive reserve of dry extract that buffers the otherwise very firm tannins on the strikingly persistent finish. This is definitely Corton but at the same time it's not rustic. Range: 91-93
