Score 91/100 · Drink 2025-2045, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Jan 2021

The 2018 Marsannay Les Ouzeloy wafts from the glass with aromas of cherries, berries, loamy soil and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, lively and concentrated, with ample reserves of fruit and powdery structuring tannin, this is a serious cuvée, built for the long haul. As readers may remember, it was with this lieu-dit that the Roty family's association with Marsannay began, as Joseph Roty was hired to work the vineyards here by Monsieur Dupont-Tisserandot, who rewarded him for his labors with a plot of vines.

The 2018 Marsannay Les Ouzeloy offers a mixture of red and black fruit tinged with orange peel and potpourri scents. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe tannins, crisp acidity and a slight charcoal/chalky note underlying the dense black fruit on the structured finish. If you can, give this 4–5 years in bottle.

The 2018 Marsannay Les Ouzeloy offers more red fruit on the nose compared to Roty’s other cuvées; raspberry and wild strawberry scents are nicely defined and quite powerful. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannins, a slightly chalky texture and a grainy but nicely focused, long finish.
