A juicy, lively, nicely balanced Right Bank, the 2020 Château Montaiguillon offers up lots of red and black fruits as well as flowery, cedary, sandalwood-like nuances. Drink this textured, medium-bodied, delicious red over the coming 7-8 years.
The 2020 Montaiguillon still feels suppressed and rather reduced on the nose, disallowing the fruit to express itself. The palate is sweet and ripe on the entry, quite fine tannins, but there is a touch of underlying greenness towards the finish, though to the degree that it could be absorbed with time. Give it 2-3 years in a damp cellar.
The 2020 Montaiguillon is a soft, easygoing Montagne Saint-Émilion to drink now and over the next few years, while the bright red-toned fruit, spice and floral notes remain vibrant. This mid-weight 2020 is nicely done.
