Good dark red. Pure, subdued aromas of black cherry, earth and chocolate convey a slightly medicinal character. Showing the cooler, herbal side of the vintage today, with its black cherry, licorice and mineral flavors tightened by a firm spine of acidity. Lacks real sweetness and pliancy but has life in the mouth and finishes with good floral lift. Elegant but on the lean side, and a tough read today.

Healthy medium-deep red. Deeply pitched aromas of raspberry, menthol and cocoa powder are lifted by a subtle floral topnote. Suave and fine-grained, showing deceptive energy and inviting perfume to the flavors of raspberry, spices and flowers. Not particularly large-scaled or sweet but displays excellent intensity and class and finishes with lovely spicy, lightly medicinal length. This wine represents a blend from three suppliers, one of them new for Jadot.

The 2014 Vosne Romanée 1er Cru les Suchots has a tightly wound bouquet with light mineral tones that become more accentuated with time. I would like to see more roundness come through. The palate is ripe on the entry and here there is more Suchots character with lovely raspberry and crushed strawberry fruit, orange zest and mandarin. The focus and delineation on the finish is very impressive and it lingers tenderly in the mouth. There is classy winemaking here.

Mid to light crimson. Distinctive nose. Firm, dry, even a little savoury on the palate. Like the Chaumes, really well balanced even without great intensity. (JH)
