Score 90/100 · Drink 1994-2014, Robert Parker, Oct 1994

If you are looking for more tannin than in the 1990 Alte d'Altesi and the 1990 Palazzo Altesi, check out Altesino's 1988 Brunello di Montalcino. An outstanding example of Brunello, the color is impressively dark, and the emerging bouquet exhibits licorice, Asian spices, fruitcake, minerals, and plenty of highly extracted fruit. Full-bodied, with outstanding concentration, moderate tannin, and an expansive personality, this impressive Brunello should drink well for 10-20 years. A top-notch producer, Altesino has once again turned out a bevy of super wines. Importer: Winebow, Inc., Hohokus, NJ.
