The Echezeaux (125 cases were produced in 1987) might not have quite the size or richness of the Vosne-Romanee Les Brulees or Vosne-Romanee Cros Parantoux, but it is a wonderfully stylish, elegantly wrought wine with a bouquet that seems to jump from the glass. The ripe, lush, yet relatively lightweight berry flavors do not go unnoticed. It is a beautiful wine to admire for its sublety rather than strength. Few winemakers seem capable of pairing richness with subtlety as well as Henri Jayer.
About the producer

The wines of Henri Jayer (1922-2006) have mythical status in Burgundy. Coveted by many but tasted by just a precious few, they are some of the region’s rarest and most desirable – considered by some to be the pinnacle of what can be achieved with Pinot Noir.
