The 2019 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has a fragrant bouquet. It is perhaps a little lean for this vineyard, but there is fine delineation here. Returning constantly over 15 minutes, it reveals more nuances that captivate the olfactory senses. Pure and harmonious, the palate is well balanced with a fine spine of acidity and notes of orange pith and melon. I appreciate the volume of this Corton-Charlemagne, though it is neither excessively heavy nor cumbersome. This is not a spectacular wine, but it’s definitely well-crafted and perhaps deceptively long-lasting. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2019 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is performing very well, mingling notes of crisp orchard fruit and orange oil with hints of nutmeg, toasted almonds, white flowers and clear honey. Full-bodied, layered and concentrated, it's muscular and multidimensional, with tangy acids and a taut, chiseled profile that's built for the cellar.
