The Mauro Veglio 2019 Barolo opens to a medium-dark appearance and concentration. The wine's more saturated approach is transferred to the bouquet with red and purple fruits, tangy cedarwood, potting soil and pressed rose. This is a classic expression of Nebbiolo that represents a blend of fruit from three villages: Arborina and Gattera in La Morra, Castelletto in Monforte d'Alba and Serralunga d'Alba. An ample 30,000 bottles were released.

Ripe and inviting, the 2019 Barolo is fresh with the aromas of cherry pie, sweet baking spice, and red flowers. This medium-bodied red is pure and clean, with ripe red berries and fine tannins, while remaining fresh throughout. A great value with a polished feel, drink it over the next 6-8 years.

The 2019 Barolo is bright, gracious and effusive, with lovely aromatic presence and fine balance. Sweet dried cherry, leather, dried herbs and tobacco all grace this tasty, entry-level offering from Veglio. The 2019 is an absolute delight that just gets better with time in the glass. Like all the wines here now, the straight Barolo is beautifully understated in feel.

Between 12–15 days on the skins. Aged for two years in French oak barrique of which 10% was new. Just mid ruby with orange tinges. Sweet raspberry fruit with hints of integrated oak. Pretty, seductive and with a peppery tingle. Fresh raspberry fruit palate that is still a little austere and with firm grainy tannins. The finish is long and balanced. (WS)
