The fruit is a blend of clones, interplanted in mass selection: MV4, MV5, MV6 and a D clone (sparkling clone), which is often further behind in terms of ripening, but they pick, ferment and mature all the clones together. Three vine ages, some of them were planted in 1969, and then Dr Bailey Carrodus took cuttings and planted more vines in 1981 and 1984. The 1981 vines are planted at slightly higher density. They do an element of plunge work and half of it gets 20% whole bunch. A lovely line, strawberry but not too sweet, a little bit of rose hip and pitanga berry. Polished carriage and poise. The fruit moves gracefully through the tannins, leaving a strong mid-palate presence which seems to settle in long after the finish. Beautifully modulated and very easy to love. (TC)

Very pale ruby colour, not far off rosé. Earth, herbs, cranberry and stemmy funk giving a really broad, satisfying palate. Far more flavour than the colour suggests. High acid but not too lean. Fine dusting of tannins. A very beautiful Pinot. (RH)

A pinot with plenty of strawberries, cranberries, sliced oranges and peaches character with a medium to full body, creamy tannins and a tangy and bright finish. Attractive fruit at the end. Drink now. Screw cap.
