70% Merlot, 17% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot, 5% Cabernet Franc. 35% new oak for 12 months. Mid cherry red. Lovely scented first impression of both black and red fruit and a touch of herbaceousness. Chewy, thick tannins, rounded and rich but fresh too. Needs a bit more time to gain elegance. (JH)
The 2016 La Tour de Mons has come together very nicely during its élevage. Silky, perfumed and very pretty, the Tour de Mons offers plenty of Margaux character in a mid-weight style that is quite appealing. Best of all, Tour de Mons is a fine value.
Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 La Tour de Mons gives cassis, redcurrants, dried herbs, unsmoked cigars and rock aromas on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied, tart and chewy with an earthy finish.
