Deeper in colour than its peers, the 2012 Château de Myrat has a slightly Germanic bouquet with touches of petrol and wax resin filtering through the honeyed aromas. The palate is well balanced with good weight, more viscous than its peers, orange rind and dried honey mixed with bitter lemon, though it is just a tad short on the finish, like many others in this vintage. Tasted blind at the Southwold Ten-Year On tasting.

Tasted blind. Particularly deep amber. Masses of botrytis evident. Big and gorgeous and with floral notes and long. Good acidity. (JR)

Tasted at the de Myrat vertical at the property. The 2012 Château de Myrat has a simple, rather waxy bouquet with acacia and dried pineapple scents that just feel constrained by the vintage. The palate is crisp and candied on the entry, something almost confection-like about this de Myrat. It is not complex, but it is clean and nicely balanced, a pretty Sauternes to drink over the next 6-8 years—one to enjoy in its flush of youth instead of stashing away. Tasted April 2016.

Tasted blind. Very deep gold. Good nerve and fine acid/sugar balance. More complex and ambitious than most. Good presence in the mouth. Kumquat syrup. Nice wine for early drinking. Chalky finish. (JR)
