Tasting notes
60% Chenin Blanc, 20% Chardonnay and 20% Cabernet Franc. Hand-picked, then separately vinified in stainless-steel tanks. Second fermentation in bottle and then the wine is matured on lees for a minimum of 24 months. Winemaker Jean Francois. RS 12 g/l. Complex, traditional-method sparkling with baked-apple/brioche notes. Chenin Blanc predominates with Chardonnay/Cabernet Franc adding an extra layer of interest. Plenty of brisk acidity – a very good alternative to cheaper champagne. (AWH)

60% Chenin (of which 10% comes from reserve wines), 20% Chardonnay, 20% Cabernet Franc. Dosage 8 g/l. Chewy. Dry. A bit green. Ticks the appropriate boxes without being exciting. Serviceable if industrial. (TC)
Pale lemon-gold. Apple and lemon sherbet fruit, with a touch of yeasty lees. Crisp palate, frothy apple with flint and chalk. Touch of nut to the finish. Correct and well-made. QGV (TJ)
The NV Crement de Loire Brut is a beauty based mostly on Chenin Blanc, with 20% each of Chardonnay and Cabernet Franc. It spent 36 months on lees in bottle. Juicy citrus, tangerine, and lime-like characteristics all emerge from this medium-bodied, balanced Crement that has plenty of texture and depth. It’s a good value and a serious sparkler.
