Bright red with ruby tones. Pungent crushed-rock high tones to the aromas and flavors of blackberry, cassis, mint, licorice and minerals. The spicy palate displays a hint of wildness and a peppery accent but the wine is extremely primary today. Best now on the juicy, slowly opening finish, which hints at the explosive fruit to come. There are plenty of tannins here but they're more pliant than those of the Clos Vougeot.

(malo almost finished): Good dark red with ruby tones. Distinctly wilder on the nose than the other 2014s in this cellar, with blueberry and blackberry scents complicated by animal fur and chocolate. Shows a creamy quality and enticing sweetness to its broad dark berry fruit flavors, but firm, well-integrated acidity gives this wine terrific balance and extends its finish. Tannins are serious but ripe.
