Tasting notes
Full screwcapped bottle 1,292 g. Spontaneous fermentation of various parcels with some French oak and lees stirring. Aged for seven months in oak before blending. Some toastiness on the nose with a strong green streak. Quite marked acidity but not austere. There is some fruit! This is Vasse Felix's early-drinking bottling though there is certainly some structure. (JR)

Crunchy, minerally and taut, a briney seam of acidity and phenolics strike through the heart of this wine and pull it through the finish. This 2021 Filius Chardonnay is the crunchy, vibrant end of the Chardonnay spectrum, not just within the Vasse Felix house style but within the regional context as well. This is a cleverly made, uncomplicated Chardonnay. I love the salted nuts through the finish.
About the producer

Vasse Felix was the first winery in Margaret River, founded in 1967. Today, it is one of Western Australia’s – and the New World’s – most respected names, crafting outstanding, cool-climate Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon from this remote region, south of Perth.
