Score 96-98/100 · Drink 2024-2055, Neal Martin, Dec 2020

The 2019 Musigny Grand Cru comes from Tawse’s two postage-stamp-sized plots. Picked starting on September 17, though the main part was on September 26, it is completely destemmed by hand, 18 nimble-fingered persons using scissors over 12 hours. It presents a beautifully defined bouquet of red berries, crushed stone and a subtle estuarine scent. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, exquisite balance and a saline undercurrent, building toward a very precise finish that lingers in the mouth. This is an utterly sublime Musigny. Production? Just one new barrel tailored to the number of liters produced.
