Score 88-90/100 · Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Jul 2019
The 2017 Santenay Clos Rousseau 1er Cru is more powerful than the Villages, but also lighter, with more energy and tannin, but less mid-palate depth and overall creaminess than the villages. Bracing mineral and savory notes add to the wine's personality.

Cool and earthy with much more polish than this producerâs regular Santenay of the same vintage. This is an elegant example of the appellation with delicate red cherries and some gentle tannins, supporting the long finish. Drink on release or hold.
