2014 Vosne Romanee Les Suchots

Deep red-ruby. Tight but tangy scents of black fruits, crushed stone, minerals and licorice, plus an exotic suggestion of white stone fruits. Wonderfully sappy, precise and energetic, conveying an impression of density without weight. This silky, refined wine is still a baby but its ripe, granular tannins and finishing juiciness suggest it will be a beauty with six or eight years of cellaring.

Mid to deep cherry red. Intense and spicy on the nose. Ripe, pure cherry fruit. On the palate, all that fruit is there, encased in chalky fine tannins, everything in embryo thanks to that texture. Wait. (JH)

(Confuron-Cotétidot owns four different parcels in Suchots; still a bit of malic acidity remaining): Deep red-ruby. Aromas of blackberry, licorice and cocoa powder. Dense, sappy and sweet, communicating excellent depth to its flavors of black raspberry, menthol and minerals. Finishes sappy, ripe and very long, with sweet tannins covered by black fruits.
