Tasting notes
Readers who enjoy a more powerful style of Brunello will want to check out La Fornace's outstanding 2001 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva. A big, deeply-colored effort, it possesses notable complexity and weight in its expression of dark fruit, leather, licorice, earthiness, menthol, minerals and sweet toasted oak.

Dark, glossy crimson. Sweet and jewelled. Quite tough tannins. Pretty rigid at the moment with some obvious oak influence, and it even seems as if there is some Cabernet in this. An atypical example. (JR)
