The 2020 Uno (Sangiovese) is elegant, delicate and nuanced. Crushed flowers, sweet red-toned fruit, spice, mint and orange peel are all beautifully delineated in this understated, classy Sangiovese. The 2020 is exquisite. It shows the smaller-scaled size of the year vis-à-vis the 2021. Fine-grained tannins round things out in style. This is a lovely choice for drinking now and over the near to medium term.

Made with 100% Sangiovese, the Tenuta di Carleone 2020 Uno (in an elegant bottle with a white wax capsule) shows a spicy side with macerated aromas of cherry skin and dried fruit. Long skin contact and partial whole cluster are key to winemaking. Like the other wines in this portfolio, Uno (the "one" refers to the singularity of Sangiovese) is a wine of special character. Firm tannins are followed by a touch of bitter fruit. Production is 21,500 bottles, and fruit represents a selection from Radda in Chianti only.
The 2020 Uno, the estate's top bottling is another super-distinctive wine in this range from Tenuta di Carleone. Readers will want to cellar the 2020 for at least a year, as it is rather tightly wound at this stage. Vibrant acids cut through a core of Sangiovese fruit in this nervy, taut wine.
