Tasting notes
The 2015 Volnay les Grands Poisots was quite airy on the nose and perhaps needed a little more substance for this appellation. The palate is medium-bodied with slight coarse and angular tannin, moderate depth, but a structured finish that needs more flesh. This will hopefully improve and gain more cohesion by the time of bottling.

(picked on September 6, which Boillot described as "late for the Côte de Beaune" while noting that the alcohol here was a still-reasonable 13.5%): Bright medium red. Aromas of black cherry and licorice convey a sweet impression. Dense and very ripe but juicy and energetic too, with its strong dark fruit and chocolate flavors conveying a sappy character. This intense Volnay's tannins reach the front teeth, but the wine has the flesh and depth to support them.
