The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Evocelles is a touch more reserved, unwinding to reveal a brooding bouquet of cherries, berries, dark chocolate, grilled meats and sweet soil tones. Medium to full-bodied, lively and precise, it's concentrated and introverted, with powdery structuring tannins and a mineral finish.

Deepish crimson. Very ripe and like the village Gevrey, a touch stewed on the nose. Plenty of fruit but not really vibrant. There's acidity but somehow it is not particularly fresh. (JH)
