Tasting notes
The 2019 Vosne-Romanée Les Petits Monts 1er Cru has an open-knit, expressive bouquet, showing off a mixture of brambly red fruit, orange zest, and hints of tobacco and pencil box. Cohesive and succulent, the very floral palate is medium in body with sappy red fruit and a fine bead of acidity. This has a firm backbone and a satin-textured, focused and delineated finish that has the sapidity to tempt you back for more. There's just a bit of alcohol present, but otherwise, this is superb, far exceeding my estimations from barrel. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2019 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Petits Monts wafts from the glass with notes of cassis, raspberries, sweet soil tones, raw cocoa, espresso roast and peonies. Medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, it's deep and complete, with a bright spine of acidity and a long, saline finish.
Near Reignots. Cask sample. Real lift and aérien quality. Round and quite rich. Very long and electric. Pretty impressive! Really vibrates in the mouth. Though the tannins make their presence felt on the end. (JR)
