Score 88-90/100 · Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Apr 2018

Forward and voluptuous in the glass, the 2017 Le Petit Caillou offers notable intensity, breadth and volume. Dark blue/purplish berry fruit, leather, lavender and spice notes are nicely pushed forward. The tannins are a touch on the coarse side at present, which gives the Petit Caillou a slightly burly feel. Even so, Le Petit Caillou is an attractive second wine.

The 2017 Le Petit Caillou gives up a deep garnet-purple color and nose of crushed blackberries, cassis and black soil with hints of tar and dried herbs. The palate is medium-bodied, firm and chewy with a lively backbone and an herbal lift to the finish.
