The 2011 TrotteVieille has a pretty, light bouquet, leather and undergrowth, modest dark berry fruit, simple but delineated. The palate is bitter on the entry with sharp tannins, quite piquant in style, a mixture of red and black fruit with a splash of soy on the finish. This is fully mature and should be drunk over the next four to five years. Tasted blind at the annual 10-Year-On tasting.

Black core, dark-cherry rim. Savoury and subdued on the nose. Spice and a touch of liquorice. Dark, coaly and refined on the palate. Lots of spice, impressive length, very intense and not nearly ready. (JH)
About the producer
Owned by the Castéja family (of Ch. Batailley), this estate is home to some of the region’s oldest Cabernet Franc vines – with some pre-phylloxera plantings that are over 150 years old.
