Tasting notes
Chiseled and youthfully reductive, the 2021 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Derrière Chez Edouard unwinds in the glass with notes of pear, citrus zest, dried white flowers, hazelnuts and wet stones. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered, it's deep and electric, with a racy spine of acidity and a long, scintillating finish.

The 2021 Saint Aubin Derrière Chez Edouard ler Cru has strong estuarine scents on the nose crustacea. and a light briny scent. Very well defined. The palate is precise with orange rind and bitter lemon on the entry, fine depth and energy, cohering beautifully towards the finish. This is a composed, sapid Saint Aubin.
Planted in 2001 at 14,000 vines per hectare and a few at 30,000 which make up the Haute Densité version. Backward, tight, with little wavelets of pure white fruit. The 2021 Derriere Chez Edouard needs time to start showing the detail. The palate is a nice blend of pure limestone with a citrus wash. Graceful yet still electric.
