Score 89-91/100 · William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Feb 2020
The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes is richer and more structured, revealing aromas of cherries, wild berries and cassis mingled with smoked meats and potpourri. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, with an ample chassis of powdery tannin that lends the wine a more introverted profile than its immediate communal sibling.

Mid to deep crimson. Darker and more sober aroma than on the straight Gevrey but with air it becomes more floral. Chalky, firm tannins, the fruit all tied up at the moment but all there. Needs longer than many in this vintage. (JH)
