Score 92/100 · Drink 2026-2042, Neal Martin, Sep 2024

The 2020 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru has a more powerful and oaky bouquet than Taupenot-Merme's, though it remains well-defined, obviously requiring longer in bottle than its peers. This is one of the few Charmes-Chambertin wines that improves in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with sapid, mainly black fruit and hints of boysenberry and orange rind. It's nicely structured and defined on the finish, although it doesn't have the terroir expression or charm of Taupenot-Merme. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
