The 2018 Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru has one of the more extravagant aromatics with black plummy fruit, damson pie, briary and a smear of marmalade. The oak regime seems simpatico with the fruit intensity. The palate is medium-bodied with rather chewy tannins. Plenty of weight here, grippy, yet it doesn't really kick on the finish and doesn't coerce you back for more. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting.

Cask sample. Some appetising meatiness on the nose of this. Juicy fruit buried in here but at the moment it is playing the ambition card with massive structure. Probably a wise course but it makes it a tad difficult to judge at the moment. (JR)
