2015 Quinta do Mouro Tinto Gold Label

The 2015 Tinto Gold Label is a blend of 38% Alicante Bouschet, 31% Aragonez, 16% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Touriga Nacional aged for 18 to 24 months (depending on lot) in new French oak. It comes in at 13.9% alcohol. Alicante strongly controls the flavor profile, then it's all about the tannins. This is pure power, yet the expression of fruit is good, the finish long and the mid-palate excellent. Still, this doesn't seem anywhere close to ready, let alone close to peak. Prepare to cellar this another few years or give it some air. Ultimately, as with the Cabernet, the issue here will be whether it can acquire better balance in time. It looks promising, and it should have the aging curve to let us find out. I would bet on it, but you will have to be tolerant of some rusticity. There were just 5,200 bottles produced.
