Tasting notes
This wine draws its fruit from younger vines (compared to the Ginestra) aged 25 years and up. As a result, the Paolo Conterno 2017 Barolo Riva del Bric boasts a softer and more accessible style, with lots of bright cherry fruit, cassis, grilled herb and crushed stone. It exhibits a smooth and silky palate, and the tannins are well maintained, caressing and even refreshing your senses. It will be a nice Barolo to open with some mixed trifolati mushrooms when it's ready.

The 2017 Barolo Riva del Bric is an attractive, open-knit wine that will drink well with minimal cellaring. Crushed rose petal, sweet red cherry, mint, spice and white pepper give the 2017 pretty aromatic presence to match its mid-weight personality.
Tank sample. Soft ruby. Beautifully scented with herby red fruits. Powerful, dry and just a touch meaty on the palate. More assertive tannins than I expected from the nose. Savoury, long finish. (JH)
