Tasting notes
The medium to dark ruby-colored, light to medium-bodied 1999 Chambolle-Musigny Les Baudes offers candied blackberry aromas. This broad, refined wine has stone, pit fruit, and cherry flavors. It reveals some firmness in the finish, yet its tannins are beautifully ripe. Importer: Neal Rosenthal Wine Merchant, New York, NY; tel. (800) 910-1990.

Bright ruby-red. Blacker aromas of plum, currant and tar, plus a whiff of prune; less exuberant than the Beaux-Bruns. Then sweet and layered in the mouth, but youthfully tight and rather closed today. Licorice and herbal nuances carry through on the finish, which features subtle length and slightly tough tannins.
