Oxidative edge to the fruit here, spoiling the nose. The palate is a bit fresher, but far from 100%. Possibly a bad sample – though I notice that Jancis had a similar experience with this wine. (RH)

The 2015 Côte Rôtie Lieu Dit Bonnivieres comes from a higher elevation parcel in the Côte Brune side of the appellation, and sees the standard fermentation and aging in barrel. Perfumed, lifted and slightly volatile, with lots of blueberry and raspberry fruits, flowers and incense aromatics, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, good purity of fruit and sweet tannin. The elevated volatile acidity gives me pause, but I suspect it will show better from bottle.

Cask sample. Tasted blind. Exceptionally dark purplish crimson. This sample seems rather tired and over the top. Sour on the end. No! But it may well simply be a dud sample. (JR)
