Tasting notes
This has a complex nose of dried flowers, undergrowth, sweet cherries, orange peel and spice box. It’s full-bodied and full of delicious ripe and dried fruit. Firm, integrated tannins. Rich and chewy. Drink or hold.

The top-shelf wine in this group from Sesti is the 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Phenomena. This wine is sharp and angular on first nose, with ripe fruit aromas, black tar and some toasted notes that come off as quite fortified, especially when applied to the more delicate nature of Sangiovese. These results are intense, maybe overworked, and reveal a Riserva with ample muscle and brawn. Production is 3,750 bottles.
Mid ruby with orange tinges. Very subdued nose with complex spice notes and a hint of gingerbread. Monolithic fruit palate piling it high, but multi-layered and complex at the same time. Polished tannins and ripe acidity on the finish. Very long. Still youthful but already captivating. (WS)
