Drink 0-0, Neal Martin, Mar 2026

The 2022 Latour-Martillac Blanc has a slightly richer bouquet with subtle tropical scents, orange pith and delicate peachy aromas. It gains delineation in the glass. The palate is rounded with good depth, though it lacks the cohesion of the Couhins Lurton Blanc. I felt this bottle was not quite correct on the finish, which felt more muddled than the one assessed last year, so I will not score this. Tasted blind at the Southwold tasting in London.

The 2022 Blanc from Latour Martillac meets my expectations, showcasing aromas of pear, white peach and flowers. It offers a moderately weighted, tense and bright palate characterized by a juicy core of fruit and bright acids, leading to an incisive finish.

A blend of 52% Sauvignon Blanc and 48% Sémillon, the 2022 Château Latour-Martillac Blanc delivers a chalky, mineral-driven nose with a kiss of reduction, crushed citrus, and mint. Rivetingly pure and full of energy, this aged for 15 months in oak barrels and should drink beautifully for 15+ years. Total production: 2,250 cases.

The 2022 Latour-Martillac Blanc has an attractive nose with honeysuckle scents I noted from barrel, though it lacks a bit of mineralité . The palate is rounded in texture with lower acidity than I prefer and an oatmeal-like finish. This falls just below my expectations.
