The 2020 Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru has a cohesive, lemon thyme and peach skin-scented bouquet that blossoms in the glass. This is very well-defined. The palate is fresh and tensile on the entry, an edgier Les Clos than its peers. Lime and citrus peel intermingle with stem ginger towards the finish. It reminds me of a Vincent Dauvissat, even though I know it is not included in this flight! Long finish. Very fine. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

The 2020 Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos is full-bodied, textural and muscular, evocative of citrus zest, crisp green apple, white flowers, freshly baked bread, almond paste and ripe peaches. Layered and concentrated, it's the richest, broadest wine in the range, yet it remains nicely defined.
The 2020 Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos from Louis Michel is a thought-provoking wine. On the one hand, it is quite open and accessible, on the other hand, that is not really the archetype of Chablis. Or at least, what Chablis used to be. I would have liked to see a bit more verve, but that is increasingly hard to come by in our climate change-challenged world. Overall, this is a relatively light style for Les Clos, with lovely aromatic depth and fine balance, but not quite the level of excitement I had hoped for.
