Tasting notes
Aromas of blackberries, cassis, rich spices, loamy soil and dark chocolate introduce Glantenay's 2018 Pommard 1er Cru Les Rugiens, a medium to full-bodied, ample and gourmand wine that's ripe but succulent, with a fleshy core of fruit and velvety structuring tannins, concluding with a long, sapid finish.

The 2018 Pommard Les Rugiens 1er Cru comes from Glantenay’s 0.20-hectare parcel of 84-year-old vines. It has a pure, beautifully defined bouquet of oyster-shell-tinged black cherries, crushed violets and a hint of potpourri (dried lavender). The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins. There is wonderful precision here and an understated style, so that you can just sit back and admire the persistence and elegance of this Rugiens. Superb.
