Tasting notes
Another fine success is the 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Champerrier Vieilles Vignes, a medium to full-bodied, velvety and charming wine that bursts with aromas of dark berries, warm spices, rich soil tones and creamy new oak. Like its Nuits counterpart, it's already showing well.

The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Champs Perrières Vieilles Vignes has a nicely detailed and terroir expressive bouquet, brambly red fruit mixed with sous-bois and light truffle aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins, silky smooth in texture with a precise and quite pure finish. One of my picks from Tardy this year.
The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Champs Perrières Vieilles Vignes is a little more reticent than Tardy’s other cuvées at the moment, though the tightly wound red fruit is delineated and fresh, and a little floral in style, revealing touches of wilted iris. The palate is medium-bodied and grainy in texture. A nicely structured and classically styled Gevrey with touches of dry tobacco toward the tertiary finish. Impressive length courtesy of vines over 65 years old.
