Tasting notes
Mocha, cherries, and cedar can be detected in the nose of the 2000 Clos Vougeot. Deep and intensely flavored, it boasts a blackberry, cassis, currant, cedar, and earth-laced character. Its admirably long, expressive finish reveals loads of ripe tannin. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2010. Concerning the 2000s, Grivot said it was “a superb vintage, one of my finest. The grapes had great ripeness, with sufficient freshness. Importer: Diageo Chateau and Estate Wines Company, New York, NY; tel. (212) 572-7725

Cask sample. Quite deep crimson. Very lively and full. Almost stewed fruit. Hint of rhubarb. Very, very concentrated. Still very chewy. Very ambitious. Macerated cherries. (JR)
