If the 2022 Château Fourcas Hosten shows this well from bottle, it will be the finest vintage from this château I've seen. Offering up a medium to full-bodied, ripe, concentrated, yet elegant style, with pure plum and cassis fruit, it has nicely integrated oak, good mid-palate depth, and a great finish. It's one heck of an impressive barrel sample.

The 2022 Fourcas Hosten is deep garnet-purple in color. It needs a swirl or two to reveal fragrant notes of black raspberries, blackcurrant pastilles, and juicy plums, plus hints of wild sage, pencil lead, and fragrant earth. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers mouth-coating red and black fruit layers with ripe, fine-grained tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long and savory.
