Tasting notes
The 2022 Durfort Vivens offers up aromas of sweet crème de cassis, violets, boot polish, creamy new oak and hints of saddle leather and cigar ash. Medium to full-bodied, layered and creamy, with a rich core of fruit, sweet powdery tannins and a long, lactic finish, it has turned out nicely but isn't quite as precise as the exceptional 2019 and 2020 duo.

Rich but very refined and layered, showing spot-on ripeness, the basis for finesse and complexity. Nuanced paprika, minerals, cocoa powder and cigar box with currants and berries. Intense and perfumed, showing fine, dusty tannins and a tight-grained, lengthy finish. Give it three years to soften more, and it will shine. Drink from 2028.
Inky, plenty of depth, a gorgeous Durfort Vivens, full of tension and personality, waves of peonies, roses, cassis, rises through the marked by black spices, dark cocoa bean and slate, graphite and crayon. 70% new oak, 30% amphoras, Gonzague Lurton owner
84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot. 30 hl/ha. Cask sample. Deep crimson hue. Creamy and expressive with crème de cassis notes. Plenty of lift and freshness, the fruit juicy and tannins fine. Firmly structured all the same. Pinpoint for the vintage. (JL)
