The 2015 Rabaud-Promis has a rich and rather smudged bouquet that is missing some delineation and terroir expression. The palate is rich and unctuous in the mouth but it has just about enough acidity to keep it in balance and avoid cloyingness. It fans out nicely on the finish, but I wonder whether a second glass might start to pall? This just lacks the promise that it showed out of barrel, though maybe another bottle would show better? Tasted blind at the Southwold 2015 Bordeaux tasting.
Tasted blind. Deep copper gold. Fresh and cheesey. Lots of interesting high acid. Still quite chewy – more time please! (JR)
Very dark brownish tinge to the gold. Heady and complete. Rather seductive on the nose. Like a cross between Sauternes and Lucozade! Lots of glucose here… Really sherbet-like. Very distinctive. Quite satisfying really… but probably a love-or-loathe wine. (JR)
