Tasting notes
The 2021 Clos Puy Arnaud is tight and focused, with the more focused, linear style of the vintage as well as attractive aromatics of red and black fruits, darker herbs, and cedar. It's medium-bodied, has bright acidity, and good concentration. Give it a few years and enjoy through 2031.

The 2021 Clos Puy Arnaud offers blackberry and bilberry fruit on the compact nose, just missing a bit of bandwidth. The palate is clean, with sappy black fruit and good density and weight in the mouth. It’s not a complex wine, but there is a harmonious white pepper finish that has commendable rondeur .
The 2021 Clos Puy Arnaud is a tough wine to taste. Imposing tannins are difficult to get past. It offers considerable intensity of fruit but is also one of the most unyielding, brutish wines of the year. Perhaps this will soften over time. We will see. In recent vintages, Clos Puy Arnaud has been a personal favorite. The 2021 growing season appears to have presented serious challenges.
The 2021 Clos Puy Arnaud has a more classic, darker character than in recent years, evoking aromas of cassis, licorice, pencil lead and spices, followed by a medium to full-bodied, powerful and rich palate with a tannic frame and carnal notes on the finish.
