2017 Cornas Nouvelle R Les Rieux

Dark, glistening magenta. Mineral-accented red and blue fruits and pungent flowers on the nose, along with suggestions of musky earth and exotic spices. Juicy and energetic on the palate, offering intense black raspberry, bitter cherry and mulberry flavors that unfold slowly and turn spicier on the back half. Finishes very long and subtly chewy, showing sharp delineation and fine-grained tannins that lend subtle grip. There's something Beaujolais-like happening here, and that's a compliment.
