Glass-staining magenta. High-pitched red and blue fruit aromas are complemented by building floral, spice and mineral accents. Shows very good depth to its sweet cherry and boysenberry flavors but comes off lithe thanks to a core of juicy acidity. Fine-grained tannins emerge slowly on a long, smooth finish that strongly echoes the blue fruit and floral notes.

I always love this wine from Robert, and his 2020 Saint Joseph is medium to full-bodied and incredibly elegant, with a fresh, lively, yet still concentrated style. Offering both red and black fruits, some obvious minerality, and hints of violets, it’s going to drink nicely right out of the gate and have 10-15 years of prime drinking.
