Score 82/100 · Drink 1996-2004, Robert Parker, Oct 1997

Jacques Jaboulet believes that 1996 was a better year for this firm than 1995. The cuvee of Hermitage called Pied de la Cote represents about 20%-25% of the estate's Hermitage production that is declassified or eliminated from their top cuvee, the famed Hermitage La Chapelle. The 1995 Pied de la Cote is a light to medium-bodied, soft, herbaceous, peppery wine that is pretty, but straightforward and simple. Importer: Frederick Wildman, New York, NY; tel. (212) 355-0700
